Action is now reportedly being taken. But it should never have come to this. It should not need a 5 YEAR OLD CHILD to die before compassion & humanity spring in to action. We cannot simply 'turn a blind eye' until the death of children stares us in the face.

Horrific reports of a 5 year old girl dying on a boat off coast of Libya. No one should have the Mediterranean as their final resting place. Thank you once again to the Maltese Armed Forces. Last night they rescued 75 refugees & migrants found stranded on a tuna pan. State vessels like these play a vital role in bringing people to safety. Very worrying reports this morning though of 90 people in distress off Libya

A lot of focus is on central Med route from Libya to Italy/Malta But to little fanfare, Greece has received 8 times as many refugees & migrants so far this year Numbers on both routes are down considerably from previous years. Managing the flow is simply a Q of political will.
