@Caro50886110 Agreed that this is entirely unrealistic. You cannot choose to withhold your claim to seek asylum in a safe country because you want to be facilitated to find a better alternative elsewhere. https://t.co/2ig6WgXiyb

Never before have Europe's post WWII institutions & values been so eroded & put to the test. We collectively have taken too many things for granted. We are at a crossroads. Now is the time to double down on the values that have made Europe strong. #DDay75thAnniversary #DDay https://t.co/1hPoBrig8i

We open our door to refugees because it is the right thing to do. Because we believe that these same strangers would open their door to us in our time of need. #DDay75thAnniversary #LestWeForget #DDay75years #NeverAgain https://t.co/BXTQnSbCTq

Extremely worrying news from Sudan. Sudanese already amongst the top nationalities seeking to flee across the Med. https://t.co/U1BDqUF6CS

Eid Mubarak to all. Let us break bread with those of different religions, show there is more that unites us than divides, and defeat those who look to use the politics of fear. https://t.co/FNkD638H9Q

Thank you once again to the Maltese Armed Forces. Playing a vital role in saving lives at sea. Legal, alternative pathways to asylum are needed so no one feels better off stepping foot on a boat in the first place https://t.co/lmsktQgHz7

Boat after boat is leaving Libya as refugees flee the violence in Tripoli. The lack of NGO rescue boats has had no impact. Shows that this policy of deterrence doesn’t work. When things are bad enough, people will flee regardless. New approach needed with NO returns to Libya https://t.co/ZlhklKHIgK

Vital that we also look at what’s happening in countries that drives people in to the hands of smugglers and traffickers and north towards the Mediterranean. If we ignore the root causes of why people flee, little will change. https://t.co/nMN0qUcUxA
