70.8 million people have been forced to flee their homes because of war, violence & persecution. Half are children under the age of 18. They deserve better. They deserve peace and the chance of a normal childhood. https://t.co/3zjlCNlArX https://t.co/ioZGDW11Nw

85% of the world's refugees are being hosted in developing countries. This cannot be stressed enough. Poorer countries are bearing the greatest responsibility for hosting refugees. Greater solidarity needed from richer countries. Our new report: https://t.co/3zjlCNDbQx

@Caro50886110 Not all are able to return home. Many have refugee profiles and are in need of international protection. We engage regularly with detainees to explain that resettlement places are few.

Most of the refugees we speak to inside Libya detention centres have been there for months, if not years. One person had been there for more than 4 and a half years. All speak of their desperation to be freed. https://t.co/qZtAI07vQJ

Are people crossing the Mediterranean refugees or migrants? Both. But around 50% come from just six countries: Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Mali + DR Congo. All six countries are enduring instability & violence. See more at our data portal: https://t.co/KaxnaVOyjX

Interesting new research from @IpsosMORI. Most people believe people SHOULD have the right to seek asylum and become refugees. Other findings show more efforts are needed to help refugees integrate. Germany has led the way on this! https://t.co/dxOErU6RmU

Very sad news from the Eastern Mediterranean. At least 8 people are understood to have died off coast of Turkey. Search for survivors continues. More should be done to dismantle smuggling networks that put people's lives at risk in flimsy boats. https://t.co/wTGC0h5Mdm https://t.co/YlpPoGmMwG
