A strengthened, comprehensive approach is needed to dismantle smuggling & trafficking networks. We must do more to stop people falling victim to those who profit from misery and despair! https://t.co/nhDQWf7HSX

Sea rescue was once a marker of shared humanity. Today it's taken hostage by politics. Rescue isn't over til ppl are safe on dry land. Europe has a choice. Fragment+falter or unite on founding principles of humanity & respect for human rights, the principles that made it strong https://t.co/lRniWKnASz

It should never have come to this. It should not need a court of law for Europe to agree to take in people fleeing conflict in Libya. https://t.co/mbSJQI0N5q

It is sad times when politicians battle to see who can take least responsibility for vulnerable refugees + migrants fleeing from Libya. The irony is much of modern day int'l refugee law was created after the horrors of what happened in Europe, + a pledge to never allow a repeat.

Great news to hear @seaeyeorg's Alan Kurdi rescue ship could soon be returning to the Mediterranean. NGO search & rescue boats like Alan Kurdi play a critical role in saving lives. https://t.co/vF8Cl5YOF8

Sport is a universal language that transcends borders, walls+wars. It’s a powerful tool for helping refugees to heal, grow and become part of their new communities. These inspirational athletes are a symbol for refugees all around the world. https://t.co/hjz3OLVkFb

Rescue at sea does not end with pulling people out of the way. People can only be considered rescued once they reach dry land at a safe port. And they CANNOT be considered rescued if they are returned to Libya https://t.co/Zf80vszT6g

Europe has a proud history of hosting refugees. It's time Europe brought forward it's values of humanity + compassion for people fleeing war + persecution by allowing the rescued refugees on @seawatch_intl to dock. https://t.co/Zf80vszT6g
