Terrible, tragic news coming in this morning. Air strikes in Tajoura understood to have killed dozens of refugees trapped inside a detention centre. Rescue operations still ongoing. Civilians should never be caught up in these attacks.

At the same time, more evacuations are needed out of Libya. Arrivals by sea from Libya may be down, but that poses the question "where are they instead?". If they in detention centres, or vulnerable to clashes in Libya, this cannot be the answer.

Welcome solidarity with refugees from Germany. Europe has a proud history of supporting refugees. Leaving boats at sea for days on end while politicking goes on around distribution feeds a false sense of 'crisis'. Arrivals are back to pre-crisis levels.
