@FergusPeace @AndreaGagne Not the case, I can confirm that UNHCR has not provided any equipment to the Libyan Coast Guard

Good news. The rescued passengers on board the Gregoretti have been granted permission to leave the ship. But it should never have come to this. Important now that States agree on a predictable approach for the future so that this doesn't happen again. https://t.co/EluOfZkm0G

1 person has died on the Mediterranean Sea for every 6 people that have reached European shores, on the route from Libya to Europe in 2019. It's by far the world's deadliest sea crossing. We can't turn our backs on people dying fleeing war in Libya https://t.co/TACuMSxdua

"They beat us for anything. When they beat us, it hurt for many nights. In that place there was no respect for human life." - Eritrean refugee on traffickers in Libya We must do more to arrest+prosecute those who profit from people's despair+misery #EndHumanTrafficking https://t.co/JM5cqonJwc

We must avoid the situation that we have seen in the past where boats with rescued refugees are stranded at sea for days while politicians utilise the situation for political point-scoring. We need to return to objectivity. Numbers are down. Situation is manageable. https://t.co/MbBWhfeeh3

@ChrisSh04196047 This is not really the case. We have talked solutions. Aside from boat journeys this includes: evacuations, resettlement, return to/strengthened support for first countries of asylum, stronger action against smugglers, conflict resolution/prevention, help to return home

"We must break the myth that all refugees want to come to Europe," - says Vincent @Cochetel. Absolutely right. Majority of the world's refugees stay in neighbouring countries close to their home. Developing world hosts far more refugees than the 'West' https://t.co/wEcLjdkg9f

@shatzomer Omer, I’m sorry but the UN is neither returning people to Libya nor ‘ensuring only militias do rescue operations’. We’ve repeatedly called for no returns to Libya and for more search and rescue capacity on the Med.

Incredible strength in depth in centre mid. Reminds of the days when Spurs had Carrick, Jenas, Davids, Sean Davis, Michael Brown, Pedro Mendes, Huddlestone and Teemu Tainio at their disposal. https://t.co/8sAcSBJ6mS

900 people have tried to flee war & violence in Libya by boat in the last week Most were not successful. Either they were returned to Libya or died at sea. Renewed efforts are badly needed to: - save lives at sea - prevent returns to Libya - offer better alternatives to boats.
