We must keep the debate sober, objective+rational Population of EU: 512,000,000 Arrivals to Europe across Mediterranean Sea in 2019: 31,947 In other words, 0.01% Number on the @openarms_fund: 151 Numbers are few. Situation is manageable #portichiusi We Stand #WithRefugees https://t.co/CjFssFS9Us

@CaudilloFranchi @openarms_fund I agree, it is important for support with integration. We cannot just leave people on streets to fend for themselves. Allowing disembarkation must go hand in hand with language courses, support for getting employment, etc... and returns for those not needing refugee status!

Welcome news of an Italian Court permitting @openarms_fund to dock their rescued passengers. People fleeing violence should not be left stranded at sea. NGOs should not be penalised nor criminalised for saving lives. https://t.co/WRjyq3gIrA

@openarms_fund @SOSMedIntl @MSF_Sea Sober objectivity must return to the debate Arrival numbers are back to pre-crisis levels. Yet deaths remain high There is no longer a crisis of arrivals but there IS a crisis of deaths. We must act so that people fleeing war in Libya don't die at sea https://t.co/2kLWGaGpYK

@openarms_fund @SOSMedIntl @MSF_Sea Nearly 600 people have died or gone missing on the Central Mediterranean in 2019 These deaths were preventable. And more lives would have been unnecessarily lost if not for the work of NGO boats They should be supported, not criminalised nor stigmatised https://t.co/2kLWGaGpYK

@openarms_fund @SOSMedIntl @MSF_Sea Many European leaders expressed their shock after Tajoura+last month's shipwreck. But words of solidarity are not enough. Expressions of condolence are no substitute for providing access to territory and asylum procedures! https://t.co/2kLWGaGpYK

Terrible news. Another tragedy, another life lost. This is preventable. ✅ More search & rescue capacity ✅ NGOs at sea supported, not stigmatised ✅ Return of EU States search and rescue vessels ✅ Ways for refugees to leave Libya safely+not risk their lives on these boats https://t.co/dpVg7InA11

More than 5,000 people have been intercepted at sea off the coast of Libya and returned to awful conditions inside detention centres in 2019. This cannot continue. It has to stop. No one should be returned to Libya. Those inside detention centres must be freed/evacuated. https://t.co/13dizVQzFh
