Prime Minister #SheikhHasina of Bangladesh received me today in Geneva. We discussed the situation of Rohingya refugees. It is crucial that international support remains strong. We must also continue to seek solutions to the plight of refugees. Bangladesh cannot be left alone. https://t.co/rX0HGxAeb3

Only sadness, and anger, after another deadly tragedy at sea in the Mediterranean. May the victims rest in peace. May the survivors find consolation and care. May governments cooperate to increase safe pathways and work together on collective solutions to address these flows. https://t.co/qRdm3f8nsZ

Malta is one of the countries most exposed to the impact of population movements across the Mediterranean. We had a useful discussion with @presidentmt George Vella on how to address this challenge — not only at maritime borders but also in countries of origin and transit. https://t.co/ip6TVwG3Mq

The number of people forced to flee has risen again. They are now more than 110 million worldwide. War, violence, persecution, discrimination — and increasingly, climate change, often linked to conflict — all cause displacement. A world with too many crises, too few solutions.

In too many countries women cannot confer nationality to their children, a discrimination that can cause statelessness and must be eliminated. I was glad to open the global summit on gender equality in nationality laws today in Geneva. Everybody must be able to say #iBelong. https://t.co/qC6ANNbk1y

Today armed men attacked a camp for displaced people in Lala, Ituri Province. They killed at least 45 people including women and children; 12 were burned alive in their shelters. Every day in Eastern DRC civilians are displaced, raped, murdered. No further comments are needed.

Honoured to be at the Meeting on Human Fraternity in St Peter’s Square with 30 other Nobel peace prize laureates. Respect for @Pontifex who has had the courage to propose fraternity as a way to think, speak and act in today’s deeply divided world. #NotAlone @FratelliTuttiF https://t.co/P9XSup3VSI

Yesterday the board of the Olympic Refuge Foundation led by @iocmedia President Bach met in Paris. Much progress is being achieved in promoting sport as vehicle for the protection and inclusion of refugees. We look forward to @Paris2024 and the participation of @RefugeesOlympic! https://t.co/EMClfNLrpM
