Thank you to Malta who allowed 163 rescued people to disembark on its shores. However, reception capacities are now overstretched. Pledges of solidarity must now be swiftly acted on in the spirit of responsibility-sharing.

I quoted “in practise” and “not excluding other possibilities” to show I qualified the statement to make clear that this is not the only situation in which it would apply. This attempt to manufacture a ‘gotcha’, point-scoring point is unhelpful. Thanks

@JFCrisp But there the embassy of State C is considered the territory of State C, and what you said is far from always a possibility. As a general principle, what I said holds?

@StevePeers @cathalmalone @lillomontalto @Refugees @euronewsit @emmevilla If a person from State A is in State B, they cannot lodge an asylum claim in State C. This is the ‘requirement’ I’m talking about, being in the territory of the State to which you wish to apply for asylum.
