    2. Arrivals to Europe by boat crossings are way, way down, back to where they were before the 'crisis' But deaths at sea remain high. UNHCR estimates that soon more than 1,000 people will have died at sea in 2019, a milestone that will've been passed for the 6th year in a row

    1. THREAD: An agreement amongst the European States on disembarking refugees rescued at sea, and who will host them afterwards, is badly needed. Here's what needs to happen+why it matters

@JFCrisp We continue to advocate with States on resettlement places. These will be made public once discussions have concluded. But to be clear, resettlement will be available for some at the ETM. Other solutions will also be pursued for others.

Thank you Rwanda for receiving these refugees! Cannot stress enough what a life-saving gesture of solidarity this is. People are dying trying to cross the Med+airstrikes hitting detention centres, the Rwanda ETM is getting people out of danger to safety. https://t.co/FG4uodHQR6

Worrying reports coming in of a boat capsized off coast of Libya. Praying rescuers get there in time. Greater efforts are needed to offer alternatives to asylum so people don’t risk their lives on these perilous sea journeys https://t.co/JOaRkNjsBo
