JUST LANDED!! UNHCR relocates 54 vulnerable refugees from Niger to Italy. Vital lifeline that will allow these refugees to build a new life. But thousands more need the same support. https://t.co/eAZaWwxNnk

@JFCrisp @msehlisafa Jeff, UNHCR has said exactly the same thing many times. Indeed you have retweeted us doing so. To suggest otherwise is very disingenuous and only helps to sow confusion about the situation. Thanks

@wheelertweets Hi James, UN agencies insisted that the release should be in a safe, orderly and planned manner. Was never the case that we simply said open the doors, release and that’s that.

@SOSMedIntl Bon voyage, and thanks again for your crucial efforts of pulling people out of the water and saving lives at sea. Your work is a shining example of showing humanity+compassion to people fleeing war and violence, and standing #WithRefugees

The system of arbitrary detention for refugees rescued at sea in Libya must end. The detention centres should be closed+the detainees released, but this must be done in a safe and orderly way. More complicated than simply opening the doors to a warzone! https://t.co/Ii6RS15HOh

Evacuations out of Libya urgently needed for the most vulnerable, more places+faster processes to get people to safety. Efforts needed to broker peace need revitalising, those with influence over warring parties must bring them to the table in dialogue. https://t.co/Ii6RS15HOh

104 rescued survivors have been waiting for days to be given a safe port on the Ocean Viking rescue boat. They need humanitarian aid+to be able to apply for international protection. We cannot ignore suffering on our doorstep! https://t.co/5ygpD5TFsw

Important news! UNHCR is now able to register refugees of all nationalities in Libya. Previously, authorities had limited us to a small, select group of nationalities only. Registration on its own doesn’t guarantee protection but this is a small but important move! https://t.co/RiYGTgIyAQ
