@kenanmalik Except this does not reflect realities on the ground. People are not being denied food with no other option. Cash assistance to provide for food and accommodation is available from Community Day Centres.

@ObserverUK Not a fair reflection of the realities on the ground. UNHCR is providing refugees in urban areas in Tripoli with cash grants to fund food, accommodation AND basic living needs

Really sad to see such an increase in the number of people living homeless on a recent trip to London. Don’t see anywhere close to same levels in Geneva. At some point, it’s a policy choice by Government. Whoever wins next election needs to sort it out!

@saracreta @UNHCRLibya @EU_Commission The priority has to be saving lives and getting refugees out of Libya, out of harm’s way and to safety. If the only focus is resettlement, with no compromise on other possibilities, many may be waiting a long time. This approach will endanger refugees’ lives and safety.

@saracreta @UNHCRLibya @EU_Commission Support with lobbying not only Europe but all resettlement States to offer more resettlement places is welcome. But have to be realistic too. Even with a massive increase, places will not be enough. Other options, inc return to previous countries of asylum, should be considered
