Tim Sherwood proves he’s no better a pundit than he was a manager. It’s Mike Ashley who is holding the club back from doing far better. With their fans, stadium & manager, Newcastle should be aiming far higher than 3 points above the relegation zone https://t.co/WDiocH3HSZ

Europe's modern identity has been founded on its value of human rights, compassion & humanity But those values are proven only when challenged, not through words but in tangible actions Europe cannot ignore the plight of those in need of humanitarian assistance on its doorstep https://t.co/EZj5NXYWmU

Finally, after more than 18 days at sea, the rescued @refugees & migrants on board @seaeyeorg & @seawatchcrew have been allowed to disembark. But it should never have taken this long! Unacceptable, and cannot happen again! https://t.co/iYsyVGvx41

One life was lost for every 50 people who attempted the journey. It doesn't have to be this way. Time for Europe to tap in to those foundational values of humanity and compassion and develop a predictable, regional approach that allows immediate docking! https://t.co/iYsyVGvx41

Rescue at sea does not end when someone is pulled out of the water, it means getting them to dry land and a place of safety as soon as possible. The imperative to save lives comes above politics and cannot be a responsibility that’s negotiated on a case by case basis
