@spalpeenuillean @nytimes @Refugees @seawatch_intl they are not comparable, Australia does not have a country over the sea with enduring the kind of conditions we currently see in Libya for one

@spalpeenuillean @nytimes @Refugees @seawatch_intl NGOs have played a critical role in saving people's lives. They deserve great praise for that. Australia's offshore approach to sea arrivals is far from a model https://t.co/9z5IKXM9DU

Imagine being separated from your Mum for 8 years. Then being kidnapped by smugglers, escaping, trying to cross the Med but being intercepted & taken to a Libyan detention centre. This is the heart-wrenching moment the family were finally reunited. https://t.co/z5Rq4nFuR0

@Takleimamo @JanneV10 @nytimes @Refugees @seawatch_intl Some are fleeing war, violence&persecution. Others victims of smugglers. It is true not all are refugees, but many are in need of protection after the traumas they faced on the journey. And for those not in need, they should be assisted to return home, not left at sea

@Takleimamo @JanneV10 @nytimes @Refugees @seawatch_intl Regular fighting among military factions, the growth of armed groups, weak legal infrastructure, automatic use of detention centers with appalling conditions, widespread human rights violations, to name a few https://t.co/YpqOv8A8eO

@JanneV10 @nytimes @Refugees @seawatch_intl No port has yet been made available to them. Libya has no safe ports.

Pls take just 15 mins to watch incredibly powerful video by @nytimes on Mediterranean It shows the challenges faced by @refugees attempting to reach safety, & incredible work of @seawatch_intl who are stranded at sea with rescued passengers as we speak https://t.co/BiAZY3Ep8E

A lot of fear-mongering and over-hyping about artificial intelligence. We already work with it every day through the software in our computers. How is/would it be different? https://t.co/L9B0luQ2MJ
