In Ukraine I have witnessed civil society organizations help ensure that responses to humanitarian needs are caring and effective, though often employees and volunteers are displaced themselves. Nine days ago a missile hit this building in Dnipro killing 46 people - 6 were children. In Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia, I saw other buildings destroyed by missiles which also killed dozens. Valentina, a woman in Shevchenkove, Mykolaiv Oblast, showed me the cellar where she and her husband sheltered after being hit by Russian shells. Their strength is amazing.
