Grateful to @MSCheusgen for having been invited again to the @MunSecConf and for being able to speak to leaders about the human impact of insecurity and the humanitarian dimension of security issues. UNHCR is now a formal partner of MSC. I look forward to even closer cooperation! https://t.co/zUnKsWMxnw

Happy to sign a Strategic Collaboration Framework between UNHCR and UNICEF with @unicefchief. Together, we will increase our support to refugee children and their families, also by strengthening national systems in host countries— especially education and social protection. https://t.co/0bmIJj2cAQ

Today the @UN launches its humanitarian appeal in support of millions of Ukrainians affected by a merciless war. Nearly 900 partners are asking for US$5.6 billion to help 22 million people in need, including refugees in 10 countries. Solidarity for all Ukrainians must continue! https://t.co/BAU8yVC6U8

Thanks @KhalilHashmi and @PakUN_Geneva for inviting me to meet @OIC_OCI ambassadors. OIC nations hosts millions of refugees. Half of the world’s internally displaced are in OIC countries. Some are UNHCR donors. I am grateful for a substantive, frank discussion with key partners. https://t.co/vhVRVrgNey

It’s been a week since the catastrophic earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. We at UNHCR join families and friends in mourning the victims. We also continue to support the survivors, especially those whose loved ones are still missing, as tireless rescuers keep trying to save lives.

I am visiting Burundi and Tanzania where I met some refugees fleeing Eastern DRC. Their stories of murder and rape by armed men are revolting: innocent civilians including children left facing horrifying abuse while leaders consistently fail to resolve regional conflicts. Enough. https://t.co/e90vNLDm5C

We must pursue durable solutions for Burundian refugees, especially voluntary repatriation. In Burundi, I met some of the more than 200,000 who have returned since 2017. We will work with the government, host countries and partners to ensure that returns are safe and sustainable. https://t.co/9uCcRgWJKh

In Tanzania I discussed with President @SuluhuSamia how to step up support for the voluntary repatriation of Burundian refugees following my Burundi visit. Efforts to create conditions for sustainable returns are growing and need engagement by all, especially development actors. https://t.co/7meJMzlIC3

Thanks President @SahleWorkZewde and Deputy PM @DemekeHasen for our good discussions. Ethiopia needs urgent, strong international support for a sustainable peace in the North and address other challenges including drought, internal displacement and hosting over 850,000 refugees. https://t.co/xkRthMkaFj
