In Moldova we could observe once more that mayors, district governors, community leaders, local NGOs, host families and generous individuals are key actors in responding to a refugee situation. When good government policies provide space, grassroots hospitality thrives. https://t.co/o5bvfBE0kc

Moldova proves that a small country with limited resources can be an exemplary host to refugees — with good leadership, effective coordination and international support. I invited Foreign Minister @nicupopescu to share this experience at the next Global Refugee Forum in December! https://t.co/htZqAu68IU

Hats off to the Government of Moldova for offering temporary protection status to Ukrainian refugees, easing their protection and inclusion. It was a pleasure to inaugurate a registration centre in Chisinău with Prime Minister @natgavrilita and Interior Minister @RevencoAna. https://t.co/CRPZaA4ZOr

Glad to be back in Moldova 🇲🇩 and have the opportunity to thank its government and people for their extraordinary hospitality to Ukrainian refugees over the past year — and highlight the need for continuous, substantial, steadfast international support for this generous country.

UNHCR is strengthening its partnership with @MBRInitiatives. We are truly grateful for their latest contribution of 12.5 million US dollars. Thousands of refugees, in Bangladesh and other countries, will benefit from additional support. A generous, forward looking 🇦🇪initiative! https://t.co/Wr4UvbhK8U

A great discussion with ambassadors of major refugee hosting countries and donor governments to prepare the 2nd Global Refugee Forum in Geneva next December. Thanks @EU_UNGeneva for hosting, @GermanyUNGeneva+ @TurkiyeUNGeneva for chairing, and all present for the valuable inputs! https://t.co/2WL3eM2BPN

UNHCR submitted 116,512 refugees for resettlement to third countries in 2022, a big increase from 2021. We thank receiving states and urge them to accelerate further processing and departures. We hope global resettlement will expand in 2023 as needs vastly outpace opportunities! https://t.co/VbxWkp2FJc

UNHCR participates in the conference to help #resilientPakistan 🇵🇰rebuild after last year’s floods. Let us remember that the Pakistani people have hosted Afghan refugees for decades: it is time to show them, very concretely, our solidarity at this time of need. @PakUN_Geneva https://t.co/YrVPSacEds

Football teams across Europe are using their jerseys to show support for people forced to flee. Whether it's for a match, a season, or multiple years, we are grateful to @FCBarcelona, @NFFC, @OfficialASRoma, and @sampdoria for standing #WithRefugees. https://t.co/2bv9XbhEn5

Since November at least 12 boats carrying Rohingya refugees have been reported in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Some have disembarked, others are still at sea. More than 200 are feared dead. The unresolved Rohingya question must be put back on the regional agenda. Urgently!
