A bit of context No. of people arriving by boat to Europe across Mediterranean in 2018 is around 44,000 SIX times less than same period in 2016 & far from peak in 2015 Real issue is for 5th year in a row, more than 1,000 have died. Saving lives at sea has to be top priority

When lives are at stake at sea, those closest to help can and should rescue people in distress at sea. #RescueAtSea

Priority HAS to be saving lives at sea. For that to happen, boats need to know where they can dock after rescuing people in distress. Our (@Refugees) appeal with @UNmigration for regional action: https://t.co/tMAKZIkoS9

Europe is no longer in the midst of a refugee or migrant crisis. The EU can and should set an example on how to manage refugee situations with compassion and solidarity https://t.co/scxxFZ4AwJ

It is this simple. We offer safety to people fleeing war, violence and persecution, because we hope that if we were ever to one day find ourselves in the same position, someone would open their door. #Humanity #Compassion #WithRefugees

It has been said many times before, but it bears repeating: Seeking asylum is not a crime. Helping someone to access their fundamental human right to seek asylum shouldn't be. https://t.co/cUfKxLv0CJ
