The six athletes of the #RefugeeParalympicTeam start their adventure at the Tokyo @Paralympics today. Let’s wish them success and celebrate their courage, determination and sportsmanship: what incredible role models for all of us! https://t.co/yiS50QiJkY

Happy to end my visit to Sudan with a positive meeting with @SudanPMHamdok. We discussed the next steps of a regional strategy seeking solutions to problems of forced displacement. Challenges abound but success will improve millions of lives and contribute to regional peace. https://t.co/Hy0451E6Kr

Hopefully the same solidarity currently shown towards people at risk evacuated from Afghanistan will continue after evacuations end, and benefit Afghan refugees, countries hosting them, and people displaced or otherwise vulnerable in Afghanistan. All will need sustained support.

Thank you @dagiulstein for our joint visit to Eastern Sudan yesterday. Norway’s unfailing support to refugees and host communities, in Sudan and globally, is a pillar of humanitarian action everywhere. https://t.co/TNNYs669to

On a visit to Eastern Sudan, many Ethiopian refugees told me that they would return home if peace and security prevailed. I echo @UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres: peace in Ethiopia will not happen through a military solution but with negotiation and political talks. https://t.co/SKcOWzyx0d

Grateful to President Salva Kiir, who strongly supports an IGAD-UNHCR initiative to seek sustainable solutions for 7m refugees and IDPs in and from South Sudan and Sudan. To overcome political, security and economic challenges, leadership and visionary thinking will be required. https://t.co/LoXhZIFA5f

Parliaments can play a positive role in responding to refugee crises and reducing statelessness in effective, principled ways. UNHCR and @IPUparliament have cooperated for years. Yesterday @MartinChungong and I signed a memorandum of understanding, strengthening our partnership. https://t.co/3LuOMogB1A

On my way to South Sudan and Sudan to discuss with their respective leaderships solutions to problems of forced displacement in (and from) the two countries. Ending the plight of millions of refugees and displaced can be a key contribution to regional peace. @igadsecretariat

In a divided world, increasingly unable to address global challenges and to stop war, humanitarianism - and humanitarian work - remind us that we can still act in true solidarity with our fellow human beings in need, in danger and in distress. #WorldHumanitarianDay https://t.co/RofcccXCFq
