On the #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfRacialDiscrimination — and every day — I am committed to leading a more diverse, inclusive and actively anti-racist UNHCR. For refugees and everyone forced to flee, we must stand united to #endracism.

Happy #Nowruz to all those who celebrate it. Especially to the people of Afghanistan, wishing them the peace and prosperity they rightly deserve. And may this festival of renewal help bring hope to a world that needs it like never before. https://t.co/7cFuiY6Rl7

Among the responsibilities of those who wage war, everywhere in the world, is the suffering inflicted on civilians who are forced to flee their homes. The war in Ukraine is so devastating that 10 million have fled — either displaced inside the country, or as refugees abroad.

Humanitarians are doing all they can in Ukraine to reach people in need, often in dangerous circumstances. However, people continue to flee because they are afraid of bombs, airstrikes and indiscriminate destruction. Aid is vital but can’t stop fear. Only stopping the war can.

Today, in Kandahar and Jalalabad, I visited projects supporting displaced people, returnees and their communities. I was especially happy to spend time at a girls’ school built on land donated by the local community. The elders told me that education is their biggest priority. https://t.co/plK8VZictN

A man-made crisis in Yemen has 20 million people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. They need our support now more than ever — but, most of all, they need a peaceful resolution to the conflict that causes their suffering. #YemenCantWait https://t.co/5BXizEAKO0
