How a community school makes refugee children happy
unhcrgreece
Description
In Thermopiles, Central Greece, a community school has been created for refugee children since October 2016. UNHCR, with the support of the European Commission, provided all the required materials: stationary, flip charts, books, bags. Children are taught Arab, Math and English by teachers, some of them refugees as well. Having left insecurity behind and after happily returning to classes, the young students have now also entered Greece’s official curriculum (afternoon classes).
