Afghans returning from Pakistan face humanitarian crisis
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
Close to half a million Afghans have been arriving in Afghanistan ever since Pakistan announced a plan to deport undocumented foreigners in October. UNHCR and partners are working at border points in Afghanistan as part of a co-ordinated inter-agency cross border response. With support from the European Union, UNHCR helps arrivals, including refugees and others with specific protection needs, who may face great hardship and risks.
