UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency’s Assistant High Commissioner for Operations, Raouf Mazou, has – including refugees, refugee returnees, and host communities. Over 1 million people have been forced to flee Sudan with 250,000 crossing the borders to neighboring countries. Mazou recently visited a new refugee site in Borota, Chad only a few kilometers away from the border with Sudan, where people continue to arrive, escaping in West Darfur.
