Win-win programme matches skilled refugees in Jordan with overseas companies

Ziad is a skilled carpenter who learned the profession from his father. Since being forced to flee Syria 12 years ago, he has been unable to find regular work, placing his family at risk. But with career advice and preparation from nonprofit organization Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB), Ziad has signed a work contract for a construction company in North America, an opportunity to help lift his family out of displacement. Since its pledge at the first Global Refugee Forum in 2019, TBB has assisted 1,200 refugees in finding dignified jobs in their chosen professions. It plans to help an additional 15,000 refugees over the next five years.
