Education gives refugee children a chance for a better future

The heroes of this clip - Mohammed, Aya, Jarkas and Aliya - are children who left Syria with their parents because of the war and now live in Noginsk, Russia. Like other children whose families have fled armed conflicts and persecution and ended up in Russia, they cannot return to their homeland. Yet they still try not to waste time - they learn Russian, go to schools or attend preparatory classes. Unfortunately, not all of them are able to enroll but UNHCR and partners are doing everything possible to ensure that access to education is provided to all children in need. Currently, 34 children continue to experience difficulties in enrolling into schools, another 30 children will try to enter the 1st grade for the first time this year. Education is an island of hope.
