Commemoration of the 2013 WRD - UNHCR Venezuela

The World Refugee Day is celebrated in over 125 countries on June 20th, an occasion on which honors those who are forced to flee their homes because of war , persecution and other forms of violence . This date falls the opportunity to raise the voice of these people. Today, there are 45.2 million refugees , asylum seekers and internally displaced personsin the world, and about 200,000 estimated people in need of international protection in Venezuela . UNHCR and Simón Bolívar Music Foundation , FUNDAMUSICAL , signed an agreement on March, 2013 where the theme of the planned activities between the two organizations nationwide to commemorate this day will be the music, contemplating simultaneous concerts in Caracas , Zulia, Tachira and Apure in order to show a single image, a unique voice . This partnership seeks to contribute to the local integration of refugee children and their families through music education and repair signs of violence that has left the armed conflict in Colombia . Since its signing , 22 refugee children have been included in their cores : 17 in Apure and 5 at San Cristobal.
