In Cameroon, the Global Compact on Refugees is making a real difference
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
Cameroon’s pledges at the Global Refugee Forums in 2019 and 2023 paved the way for whole-of-government approach to expand refugee access to social services, enhance self-reliance and promote local integration, shifting from a humanitarian response to a long-term development agenda. Despite the challenging global context, advances in refugee support and protection are happening in countries and communities worldwide. Since the adoption of the Global Compact on Refugees, data show that collective action and solidarity are effective, provided the required political will and financial resources are in place.
