100,000+ Flee Congo in Weeks
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
They fled violence in eastern DR Congo. Now they’re trying to rebuild their lives. In just weeks, more than 101,000 people have crossed into Burundi in search of safety. More than 65,000 are now living at the Bweru/Busuma site — a place that barely existed before. The site is severely overcrowded. Families lack clean water, proper shelter and sanitation. Cholera has already been reported, and health services are under extreme strain. We are scaling up our response, but needs are rising faster than resources. If you can, please consider donating.
