Iraq: Thousands of Syrians Cross the Tigris

UNHCR is witnessing a major exodus from Syria. Field officers reported that the first group of some 750 Syrians crossed over the pontoon bridge spanning the Tigris River at Peshkhabour before noon on Thursday. In the afternoon a much larger group of 5,000 to 7,000 people followed.
