Displaced Iraqi returns to Mosul to rebuild home and memories

Returning to his beloved 6000-year-old neighbourhood in Mosul, Saad walks his daughter through it, showing her landmarks and places he took her to as a toddler. His now 9-year-old daughter was only 3 when extremists ceased control of Mosul. The conflict that followed left the family displaced and their home destroyed. With the help of UNHCR, Saad is now able to rebuild his home and reopen his welding workshop. He is determined to revive his old city so that his daughter can build new memories and build a sense of belonging.
