Naleen's Song: 9 Years of the Syria Crisis
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
When conflict struck her hometown of Qamlishly, Syria, 15-year-old Naleen fled with her mother to safety across the border into Iraq. Naleen's tanbur, a traditional stringed instrument, is one of the only things she was able to carry with her when she escaped. She has played it since she was 10 years old, when she received it as a gift from her mother.
