In Kakuma, I saw how refugees are included and how this benefits the whole community.

On his first official visit as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih called for stronger global support to develop the solutions refugees need to rebuild their lives. In Kenya, he saw important progress for refugee inclusion. From education and livelihoods to health services, refugees and host communities are benefiting from approaches that move beyond short-term humanitarian responses and invest in shared longer-term outcomes that lift up those communities together. Together with refugees, UNHCR staff,  partners,  and host communities, his focus is on protecting people forced to flee and advancing solutions that enable refugees to live in safety, dignity, and with real prospects for the future.
