Floods displace thousands of refugees and host communities in South Sudan

Heavy flooding in South Sudan’s Maban County has displaced nearly two hundred thousand refugees and their hosts. Main roads are submerged in flood waters, making access to those in need difficult. Schools are closed. The floods have also impacted public services, including hospitals and damaged sanitation facilities, increasing health risks. UNHCR and partners and the local authorities are doing what they can to provide emergency support. But much more is needed.
