Description

In 2021, Belize launched an Amnesty Program offering eligible asylum-seekers and migrants a pathway to permanent residency. Since then, more than 13,000 people have applied, and nearly 500 asylum-seekers have received their permanent residency cards, granting them stability, dignity, and a path toward citizenship. With the support of UNHCR and its partners, asylum-seekers were guided through the process, from completing applications to gathering required medical exams and documentation.
