Violence and persecution against civilians in recent months have pushed over 55,000 refugees from Burkina Faso into neighboring coastal countries including Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana and Benin. Most arrivals are women and children, many of whom have been exposed to gender based violence and suffered psychological trauma.
