유엔난민기구 한국대표부의 행사가 있었던 지난 9월 3일은, 전 세계를 슬픔에 빠뜨린 시리아 소년 아일란 쿠르디의 사체가 터키 해변에서 발견된 날이기도 했습니다. 이 날 행사에 앞서, 친선대사 정우성은 아일란의 사진을 언급하며 여러분의 관심을 독려하였습니다. 영상으로 만나보세요. "난민은 그들이 게을러서, 가난을 피해서, 이루지 못하는 부를 쫓기 위해서 그 나라를 떠나는 사람들이 아니거든요. 생명을 지키기 위해서, 가족을 유지하기 위해서 어쩔 수 없이 나라를 떠나는 사람들이기 때문에 그들이 왜 난민이라는 호칭 안에서 나라를 떠나야 했는지 우리는 조금 더 심각하게 생각을 해보고, 그리고 그러한 생각, 본인들의 이해, 관심을 주변 사람들에게 알려야 될 필요가 있다고 생각해요. 침묵하거나, 그냥 이해로 끝나서는 안 될 것 같아요." On Sept. 3, when three-year-old Aylan Kurudi's body was found washed up on the Turkish shore, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Jung Woo-sung shared his thoughts. "Refugees are not people who leave their country because they were idle, or because they want to escape poverty and seek wealth. They had to flee for their life and family. We must think about why they made the decision to leave their country, and share this thought and understanding with the people around us. We should not remain silent."
