This is how UNHCR Iraq is helping refugees in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Unhcr Iraq
Description
There are more than 270,000 Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. They have been generously hosted by the Kurdish people and government, and we are here to support them. UNHCR has invested a remarkable $800 million since the first arrival of Syrian refugees in 2011. This investment spans various crucial areas such as upgrading refugee shelters and strengthening existing public services like schools and health centres. All of this was done to provide better and long-lasting services for refugees and local communities. These investments will continue to benefit Kurdish communities for years to come, even after Syrian refugees will have safely returned to Syria. Together, we're building a brighter and more hopeful future for all.
