The trafficking business in Nigeria preys on young, vulnerable women who are innocent enough to believe in fanciful stories about good jobs waiting for them in Europe. These interviews with women who have escaped sexual slavery reveal how the traffickers approach their victims. It is always with promises of a good and secure future, prostitution is never mentioned or is denied. Telling the Real Story is an information campaign to raise awareness about the dangers involved in using the smuggling route, including through Libya. The campaign is targeting people in different countries who are planning to undertake this dangerous journey. The TRS campaign also aims at providing information on complementary pathways as alternative and regular opportunities to irregular movement (i.e. scholarships, family reunification, labour mobility).
