33 year old Mahad Abubeker Abdulle is a Somali refugee living in Awbarre Camp in Jijiga, Ethiopia. Mahad and his wife arrived to Awbarre in 2008 and have lived in the camp for the past 14 years. Mahad has served in many leadership positions within the camp. In the last two years he has served as the president of the Refugee Youth Association in Awbarre camp. As the Youth Association president, Mahad primary platform centers around providing sustainable opportunities for strengthening youth empowerment through recreational and livelihood activities. In collaboration with the BBC Media Action, we present a series of short films following a ‘day in the life’ narrative - following refugees in their day to day lives, and illustrating the contributions that refugees make to their communities.
