Farhad built a camp, with tents, electricity, water, a place of shelter. His compassion is heartfelt and grounded in his own boyhood flight. “In 1974, I was displaced to Duhok and all our belongings and properties were confiscated. We had to build our life from nothing. 40 years ago, I lived the same experience these people are living.” An estimated 1.8 million Iraqis have been internally displaced since the beginning of the year, with nearly half seeking refuge in the Kurdistan Region.
