How a solar farm will provide electricity and light to refugees in Jordan
Australia for UNHCR
Description
Every year, millions of children and their families become refugees. They find safety and shelter in UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency’s camps like this one in Azraq refugee camp in Jordan. Access to energy and lighting is crucial for refugees. Without light families cannot work, cook, study or socialise after dark. IKEA with UNHCR is setting up a solar farm in Jordan that will provide electricity to refugees and the local community. For every lamp and bulb sold in a participating IKEA store during the campaign period in November-December 2015 the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 to UNHCR.
