50,000 people flee Burundi in one month
Australia for UNHCR
Description
More than 50,000 Burundians have fled to neighbouring countries Chad, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo since mid-April. Many say they fled due to receiving intimidation and threats of violence linked to the upcoming elections. 25,000 Burundians, mostly women and children, have fled to Rwanda, where UNHCR are working hard to provide them with emergency accommodation and essential aid and support.
