In a makeshift workshop inside the Congo's largest refugee camp, Lusenda, a group of disabled Burundian refugees are turning scrap metal into cooking pots, pans, irons and other kitchen utensils. The association's earnings are divided equally amongst the group's 32 members and Mathias Nzorigendera, the group's president and founder, says their products are filling a gap in Lusenda's refugee market. The group is a symbol of resilience and hope for disabled refugees in the camp, most of whom depend on aid to survive. But much more help is needed to help the group become self-reliant.
