Australia for UNHCR was privileged to host a a Special Donor Briefing with UNHCR’s Assistant High Commissioner for Operations, Janet Lim. During her 33-year career Janet has served as Director of the Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, head of UNHCR’s Emergency and Security Service, Coordinator in the Western Sahara, Representative in Sri Lanka during its separatist insurgency, and has also served with UNHCR in Malaysia, Thailand, and Syria. After an informative introduction from the National Director of Australia for UNHCR, Naomi Steer, Janet Lim discussed how UNHCR is responding to the current global challenges of providing protection and assistance to the many millions of displaced people worldwide.
