Burundian refugees flee to DRC
Australia for UNHCR
Description
While the coup attempt is reported to have been foiled, the situation remains tense in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura, with sporadic outbursts of violence reported this morning. Over 105,000 people have now fled from Burundi into neighbouring countries Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, escaping violence following an attempted coup in Bujumbura, Burundi's capital. UNHCR is providing emergency shelter, water, food and medicine to newly arrived refugees.
