Khaled Hosseini, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, in Jordan with Syrian Refugees
Australia for UNHCR
Description
4 years on and the Syrian conflict has now produced 3.9 million refugees. Internationally acclaimed author, Afghan refugee and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Khaled Hosseini, has been with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, meeting Syrian families living in the refugee camps and cities of Jordan. Jordan is host to over 625,000 refugees, 85% of whom live in urban areas away from the safety net that camps can provide, making them more susceptible to exploitation and abuse, working in risky jobs or relying on prostitution or child labour. UNHCR supports Syrian refugees in Jordan through a package of support including helpline advice, home visits, and highly innovative cash assistance that identifies and protects the most vulnerable Syrian refugees living in Jordan. --- Subscribe to our Channel to stay up to date with the latest in refugee news and crises: https://www.youtube.com/user/Aus4unhcr UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, works to protect and assist those fleeing war and persecution.
