Living as a stateless person with no nationality: Leal's story
Australia for UNHCR
Description
In twenty seven countries, women cannot pass on nationality to their children because they do not have the same rights as men. This is Leal's story: "To be a stateless person is like not existing. You live in a parallel world with no proof of your identity". Across the world today more than ten million people who are stateless with no nationality. Denied a nationality, they are also denied their basic rights; education, medical care, legal employment. We believe it’s time to end this injustice.
