Nadiia Andrushchenko, internally displaced person who faced a risk of statelessness

Nadiia Andrushchenko was born in the city of Armiansk, Crimea. She lost her passport in 2009 when she lived in Kyiv region, and due to her health condition, she was unable to restore it in time. After the occupation of Crimea, this became impossible, as all the files remained in occupied territory and Nadiia faced the risk of becoming stateless. In 2024, after 7 years of legal assistance from UNHCR’s NGO partner Right to Protection and their lawyer Viktoriia Volynska, Nadiya received her long-awaited Ukrainian passport.
