Refugee Voices from Egypt - Nabil's Journey
UNHCR Egypt
Description
The story of Nabil Karim, a chef, father, and musician who arrived in Cairo in 2013 with his family, seeking refuge from the ongoing war in Syria. Nabil had difficulties making ends meet in Egypt; the two eldest boys had to work to support the family expenses instead of going to school. In spite of the family’s difficult conditions, Nabil refused to travel by sea. In November 2015, the family has been selected to be resettled in Finland. Nabil’s and his family all share a passion for arts and especially music. The father plays Oud and Percussion. He teaches his children, and they spent their evenings at home playing instruments together. UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, works to protect and assist those fleeing war and persecution. Since 1950, UNHCR has helped tens of millions of people find safety and rebuild their lives. With your support, UNHCR can restore hope for many more.
