Visually Impaired Women 16x9
UNHCR Afghanistan
Description
Nearly 100 visually impaired women in eastern Afghanistan have gained new skills, confidence and greater independence thanks to a UNHCR programme, with partner, WADAN (the Welfare Association for the Development of Afghanistan). The programme, in Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman, helped women learn braille, improved mobility and practical daily life skills, as well as benefitting from psychosocial counselling. Some of the graduates have taken part in extended workshops, to improve their communications skills, with the hope that this could open up livelihood opportunities for them.
